The Fab Four

Once upon a time, there were four girls. The first of the four entered the world on April 9th, 2000. An Aries through and through, born with enough fire to light up any room. Exactly four weeks later came the next, who was welcomed home from the hospital by her 28 day-old predecessor. She would grow out of her colicky nature eventually, becoming a source of calm for the rest. Fast forward a whopping 10 days, and number three came along, on May 17th. With her own three, much older siblings, this one learned a sense of humor fast, picking up on how to entertain a room before beginning to walk. And the universe waited patiently for the fourth to settle into place. On July 11th, the last girl, the curious, adventurous one, made her way into the world, ready to pave a path less traveled. As the four girls grew, they quickly found each other, and held on tight. By the ripe age of 10, their fate was sealed: best friends, forever.

Throughout my life, I have found myself looking around for the hidden camera crews, waiting for a director to yell “aaaand SCENE!” Not because my life follows a perfectly crafted plot, but because I was given the most quintessential, stars-aligning, childhood best friends - the type that movies are made of. While I was only born with one brother, I like to say that I was raised with three sisters too: CC, Izze, and Haley. Each one entered my life at a different stage, but by fifth grade, we had woven our stories into one, and it is my favorite story to read.

I learned to respond to being called all three of the aforementioned names, CC, Izze and Haley; we were often lumped together, and I took it as a compliment every time. But as we aged, we became more discernible, growing in different directions, but never apart. Our differences are what make our bond one for the books, they mix together in perfect proportion. After over a decade, we have mastered the art of understanding one another, as just yesterday I was on the phone with Haley, when she interrupted me to say, “Are you looking at yourself in the mirror right now?” I busted out laughing, she had caught me in one of my worst habits. All she needed was the slightest inflection to know exactly what I was preoccupied with. While being 500 miles away, it felt as though she was right in the room, and this is the most comforting feeling a person can have.

I say with 100% certainty that I wouldn’t be who I am today without these three. They are truly the world’s best friends. We have all molded each other into four strong women - the best parts of me are extensions of them and the experiences we went through, together. I take great pride and joy in my title of best friend, and can even be possessive at times, like I said, I hold on tight. But it wouldn’t be fair of me to keep them from the rest of you, so buckle up, these next three blogs are going to be fun.

Next up: #1 – CC Owen.

Love this and it's SO wonderful you four have each other. I don't know Izze, but if she's the kind of woman you, Haley and CC are, then that speaks volumes. ❤️
