Before this week, I had no idea how strong an impact a single stranger could have on me. This week at Carolina, a sweet soul passed away. Wynn Burrus was a senior here at UNC, and from what I can tell, she was so incredibly and immensely loved. Her passing was abrupt and caused a tidal wave of grief throughout our entire community, a wave so strong that we all will be feeling the effects of for a long time. I never had the chance to meet her, but I felt called to attend the candlelight vigil held on campus to honor her legacy. Although with a heavy heart, I left this ceremony feeling inspired after listening to the countless ways in which Wynn used her time on Earth in the most beautiful of ways.
Her friends spoke of her beautiful smile, thoughtful actions, and most importantly, how fiercely she loved others. From what I can tell, Wynn saw every moment as an opportunity to spread joy and positivity, and worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone around her felt loved. To honor her legacy, her friends and family started the hashtag, #MoreLikeWynn so that we can all feel called to live each day with more love, just as she did. Without even ever meeting her, Wynn's pure heart changed mine. Every person deserves to feel loved, appreciated and heard. In an effort to try and live more like Wynn, I have created this blog to highlight the accomplishments, passions and hearts of those around me. Whether it be a stranger or my best friend, I am making a conscious effort to listen and learn from their stories, and I will be photographing and interviewing them to share these stories with the world.
This life we have is a gift, and is best lived when we take a moment to look around and appreciate the beauty of the people around us. As I witnessed last night, love is a powerful and life changing thing, and through this blog I hope to spread a little more of it around.
